Description
Presentation
Born in 1999 – Lives and works in Paris – Graduated from Ateliers de Sèvres in Paris and ECAL in Switzerland.
During his studies, he became particularly interested in the technique of press printing, attracted by lino engraving and the shimmering brilliance of the inks. What interests him at first glance interests him even more when he can push its limits. He then developed a technique which he made his distinctive mark, through engravings and superimposed impressions. The result is a blended blend of inks and a three-dimensional visual effect. Creating an active visual effect with the viewer is therefore part of his creative process.
There are no limits in the choice of materials: plexiglass, resin, wood, steel, paper... nor in that of techniques: printing, painting, sculpture, to create in two or three dimensions .
In 2021, following a first exhibition of his works at the Galerie Joseph in Paris in the Marais, he decided to link his creations to a theme which becomes the common thread of a new production. The Butterfly, a colorful animal, enters into its creative process to which it brings its patterns and colorful harmonies. The butterfly becomes for Yann Crenn a subject of contemplation, fascination and inspiration. Its colors are diluted into pigments and mixed into inks. The designs of its wings, observed under a magnifying glass, serve as a work of sculpture and painting. The result is a production of unique and varied works which takes strength in the artist's imagination, avoiding the trap of repetitive art.
