Description

On my bike ride between my home (Paris 12th) and my studio (in Les Lilas), I encounter a multitude of spontaneous vegetation shaping the landscape. This wandering nature gives me the impression of layering in strata as I move forward while observing it. It is with this living richness that I like to work, making imprints on clay and then fixing them in plaster. I have specifically begun to study zones of passage. These areas illustrate the interaction between spontaneous vegetation and urban planning, thus revealing the invisible richness of our everyday environment.

Once the plants have been selected, I perform a simple yet essential gesture: pressing them into slabs of fresh clay. This technique allows me to capture with precision their textures, veins, shapes, and specific features.

I then cut these imprints into right-angled geometric forms. These cuts evoke urban planning maps or architectural structures, as if these plant fragments were integrating into the very fabric of the city. It is a symbolic way of restoring a place for the living within our built environment. Finally, these forms are cast in plaster, giving rise to compositions that resemble relief herbariums, contemporary fossils of the urban landscape.

Presentation

A visual artist born in 1990 in Lyon, I have been living and working in Paris since 2014. After a foundation course at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon, I continued my training at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse (DNAP, 2013), followed by an exchange program in Shanghai in 2014 and a DNSAP at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2016. Sculpture quickly became my preferred means of expression: it is through matter that I most fully convey my ideas and emotions. Each chosen material, like each technique, brings a particular meaning to the work. I develop my research in my studio in Les Lilas, as well as through residencies in France and abroad, anchoring my projects in the contexts and spaces that host them.

My work explores the shifting relationship between nature and human constructions, resonating with life, landscape, and architecture. It engages with an ambivalent tension between craft and manufacture, between human intervention in nature and the resilience of nature as it reclaims its rights. I am particularly interested in the vitality of the living within urbanized landscapes, confronting natural materials (earth, plants) with construction materials (concrete, plaster, wire mesh). I often create from the history and materials found on site, allowing myself to absorb and question them. My approach stems from a sensitive observation of the landscapes around me—whether forests, countryside, seashores, or cities. I collect natural and artificial fragments, which I reframe in situ as a kind of archaeology of the everyday, revealing foundations, layers, and architectural components that are often hidden yet essential.
