Description
This captivating sculpture depicts a seated woman in meditation, surrounded by birds. Her airy hair blends harmoniously with the flowing movements of her garment, creating a striking sense of aesthetic continuity. The birds gently resting on her lap and hands add a layer of serenity and communion with nature. The contrast between the rough texture of her robe and the softness of the birds is striking, evoking a duality between strength and delicacy. The peaceful expression on her face invites contemplation, while the use of earthy tones gives the piece an organic depth. Every detail—from the folds of the robe to the subtle motion of the birds—is sculpted with meticulous precision, showcasing the artist's technical mastery. This work is a poetic ode to the harmony between humanity and the natural world.

“Tales, myths and legends inspire me a lot. They convey images that are both rich in meaning and mysterious. The association between man and animal in particular and more broadly nature has always fascinated me. But tales and myths also interest me for their inexhaustible power of suggestion. In essence, they evade representation, they activate the imagination from canvas to canvas. They are linked to the experience of painting which is perpetually mutating. »

“…At the end of a branch, above a shoulder, below a dress, a cat, a bird, a hare... Faithful companions of play and meditation.
A box, a vial, a mirror, a flower... so many mysterious accessories which give us a clue to follow Maria's red thread on the paths of her imagination and her thoughts.
Complicity, interiority, silences, secrets, enchantment, appeasement, serenity, spirituality, how many precious words come to me traveling in Maria's painting.
