Description
This captivating sculpture in black serpentine embodies harmony and fluid movement. The sculptor has masterfully crafted an abstract human figure, whose dynamic curves evoke both strength and grace. The subtle contrast between the polished finish of the body and the rough texture of the head inevitably draws the eye. The pose, with raised arms that seem to applaud, invites varied interpretations, making the work both intriguing and contemplative. The stylized facial features convey intense emotion, coupled with an impression of suspended movement. This piece is a testament to the sculptor's technical virtuosity and ability to breathe life into stone. It is distinguished by its expressive elegance, offering a visual experience that inspires reflection and admiration.
Presentation
N'goni Mashaya is a renowned artist of the Zimbabwean sculptors' movement. For 60 years, this movement has been considered a cornerstone of contemporary art. Currently, several Zimbabwean artists are among the most acclaimed sculptors in the world. Better known since its origins as Shona art, this art intrigues and captivates with the modernity of its works. It is African art, yet contemporary, spontaneous art without reference to ancestral tradition.
