Description
Spalted birch, power carved into a continuous looping form and dyed with yellow ink. The colour sinks unevenly into the grain, so the black spalting lines stay visible beneath it.
Those lines are boundaries. Each one marks where two fungal colonies met inside the fallen wood and stopped, holding a frontier against each other. The title takes the Latin word for exactly that kind of line.
Black concrete base, which grounds the warm yellow against something cold and flat. Unique piece, hand-signed. 60 x 30 x 30 cm.
Presentation
I am a contemporary artist who primarily works with wooden sculptures using a method called "power carving," which means that I use electric hand tools to sculpt the form. My art is characterized by soft organic shapes inspired by nature, where I like to explore the abstract.
The experimental is a strong driving force in my creative process. I work with a variety of techniques to enhance the expression in my works, including the use of verdigris copper, staining, and painting with acrylics. By combining these materials and methods, unique and innovative sculptures are created.
My works are distinguished by their lively surfaces and unexpected details, where the natural qualities of the wood interact with my experimental vision. Through my sculptures, I want to arouse curiosity and invite reflection on the forms of nature and the possibilities of materials.
