Description
A single unbroken line of oak rises, loops, and folds back on itself in one continuous gesture. Power-carved from a solid block of oak, the form has no joints and no additions — every curve is the result of subtractive carving, worked down until the mass reads as something fluid and weightless.
The composition turns on a central knot where the ribbon crosses through itself, coiling into a tight open spiral before releasing upward into a long, tapering arc. Seen from the front it reads as a lyrical loop; from the side it collapses into a slender vertical, so the sculpture shifts character entirely as the viewer moves around it. That change of state is the point of the piece.
The oak's medullary rays and open grain are left fully visible under a high-gloss polyurethane coating, which deepens the honey tone and lets light run along the curves. Small natural fissures in the wood are preserved rather than filled — evidence of the material's own history.
Mounted on a hand-cut circular slate base with a discreet metal pin, allowing the form to appear suspended above the stone. Signed by the artist at the base.
Unique piece.
Presentation
I am a contemporary artist who primarily works with wooden sculptures using a method called "power carving," which means that I use electric hand tools to sculpt the form. My art is characterized by soft organic shapes inspired by nature, where I like to explore the abstract.
The experimental is a strong driving force in my creative process. I work with a variety of techniques to enhance the expression in my works, including the use of verdigris copper, staining, and painting with acrylics. By combining these materials and methods, unique and innovative sculptures are created.
My works are distinguished by their lively surfaces and unexpected details, where the natural qualities of the wood interact with my experimental vision. Through my sculptures, I want to arouse curiosity and invite reflection on the forms of nature and the possibilities of materials.
