Description
Sculpture – Resin, automotive paint and gold leaf details
Dynausor is Bob Tonic's playful reinterpretation of one of humanity's oldest fascinations: the dinosaur. Far from a scientific reconstruction, the artist transforms this prehistoric creature into a joyful contemporary icon, where childhood memories, pop culture and luxury craftsmanship collide.
Covered in a deep candy red finish enhanced with hand-applied gold leaf details, combines the visual language of collectible designer toys with the refinement of contemporary sculpture. Its exaggerated proportions, oversized head, expressive smile and polished surfaces create an immediate emotional connection, while its metallic reflections constantly change with the surrounding light.
Behind its playful appearance lies a deeper reflection on memory and time. The dinosaur, an extinct giant, is stripped of its fearsome identity and reborn as a friendly guardian of imagination. Bob Tonic invites viewers to reconnect with their inner child while celebrating optimism, curiosity and creativity.
Every curve, every highlight and every gilded imperfection reveals the artist's meticulous attention to detail. The brilliant lacquer finish contrasts with the handcrafted gold accents, making each sculpture unique and alive.
With Dynausor, Bob Tonic blurs the boundaries between fine art, collectible design and pop aesthetics. The result is a vibrant sculpture that radiates energy, humour and sophistication, bringing a bold contemporary presence to any private or public collection.
Presentation
Bob Tonic explores contemporary popular culture through sculpture, image and visual concepts.
Drawing from the collective imagery of advertising, fashion, luxury, street culture and art history, he takes familiar symbols and shifts their meaning through humour, contradiction and unexpected associations.
His work plays with what we think we already know. Icons are displaced, enlarged, polished, stripped back or confronted with another visual language. Behind an immediately accessible aesthetic lies a recurring question about desire, status, freedom and the images that shape our lives.
Colour, material and finish are central to his practice. From highly polished surfaces to radical monochromes and vivid fluorescent tones, each work is conceived as a strong visual object — seductive at first sight, but rarely as innocent as it appears.
Bob Tonic develops a universe somewhere between Pop Art and contemporary sculpture, without nostalgia and without taking either art or himself too seriously.
Ironic. Iconic. Chic.
And when something seems impossible?
