Description
Clay sculpture, fabrics, key, glass bell support and rusted box.
This terracotta sculpture stands out through its silence. The face, with precise and serene features, emerges from a cylindrical support reminiscent of a worn tin can. The contrast is immediate. The nobility of the portrait opposes the triviality of the rusted metal.
A veil of light fabric envelops the head. This textile brings a tactile and fragile dimension to the composition. The gaze, fixed and deep, invites reflection on human dignity.
The artist explores resilience here. She highlights often forgotten or invisible existences. The raw material emphasizes the truth of the expressions.
Presentation
Born in Tourcoing in 1967, Sylvie Honnart is a self-taught artist who started modeling in the 2010s. She lives and works in La Teste (Gironde).
His work is expressed through modeling, oil painting, plasterwork and tempera.
She has exhibited on numerous occasions in Lille, Paris, Barbizon, Bordeaux, Bayonne, Monségur, and on the Arcachon Basin.
Having won several awards, she was the recipient in 2023 of the Huré-Bastendorff prize awarded by the Academy of Fine Arts of Paris.
Sylvie Honnart has always been fascinated by faces. What they reveal, what they conceal.
His sculptures depict human figures that are both strong and fragile.
Bearing silent stories, neither joyful nor sad, they look at us, tell us their story, awaken a memory, an emotion, even a question.
Sylvie Honnart's work is part of a committed, profoundly human approach.
Inspired by artists such as Ousmane Sow and Alberto Giacometti, she found in sculpting a way to reveal the essential: the dignity, the resilience, the complexity of certain lives, of those existences that are rarely seen: those of coal miners or slaves, for example.
