Description
This is an E.A. (artist's proof). This sculpture detours an iconic symbol of popular culture. The object takes the visual codes of an American soup can, a famous reference from pop art. The saturated red dominates the composition. The can opens to make way for a familiar character. A small white dog emerges from the container. It holds a white sign displaying a simple message of affection.
The work plays on the contrast between the industrial aspect of the metal and the tenderness of the subject. The artist uses contemporary materials to transform an everyday consumer product into a decorative object. The glossy finish accentuates the commercial and advertising aspect of the object.
The approach is playful and direct. It questions our relationship with brands and mediated images. Every detail recalls the aesthetic of the sixties while remaining rooted in modernity. This piece is part of a desire to make art accessible and entertaining. The character stands on a bright red background, contrasting with the whiteness of his silhouette.
Presentation
A French pop artist originally from eastern France, Ted has always been creative. Electronic music has allowed him to express himself artistically for over 15 years. Between studios and his travels around the world, he has lived out his passion for art to the fullest in the last few decades. Ted came to art some years ago where he began to test out several mediums including acrylic, collage, resin, spray and dyes. His work draws inspiration from popular culture, brands, colors, Hollywood stars, ads, images and the cinema. For Ted, art should be fun and enjoyable!
