Description
This captivating artwork is an exquisite example of modern abstract sculpting, crafted with meticulous precision. Encased within a perfectly clear, geometric cube, the piece offers a striking juxtaposition between the transparent medium and the vibrant, dynamic scene encased within. The interior landscape is a mesmerizing fusion of organic textures and bold colors, primarily dominated by deep navy blues, which evoke the depths of the ocean or the infinite expanse of the night sky. Interspersed within this dark void are hints of shimmering golden hues, creating a celestial impression as if tiny stars are embedded within the void. The white patches dispersed throughout add an intriguing contrast, reminiscent of ethereal clouds or breaking waves, adding a sense of movement and life. The piece’s translucent property allows for a fascinating play of light and shadow, creating a dynamic visual experience as one moves around the artwork. Each angle offers a unique perspective, unveiling different facets and depths, making the viewer’s engagement with the piece an evolving journey. Uniquely, this artwork finds harmony between chaos and order. The rigid, structured cube form encapsulates the fluid, almost chaotic inner world, symbolizing a balance between controlled artistry and unfettered creativity. Displayed against the rustic red brick background, the glass cube stands out with an arresting clarity, emphasizing the textural differences between the smooth, polished surface of the cube and the rough, uneven brick. This artwork is not merely a visual piece but an immersive experience, inviting viewers to explore and interpret its depths. It is a bold statement of contemporary art that challenges traditional boundaries, making it a captivating centerpiece perfect for any modern art collection.
Presentation
My name is Michael R. Grine and I am an process oriented artist. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas.
Statement
Curiosity. Emotion. Experimentation. Exploration. Leap of faith. Pursuit of knowledge. These words only begin to describe what my art signifies or represents. I was born an artist and have always identified myself as an artist. I possess an insatiable creative drive to make art out of the images I see in my mind. To help satisfy this impulse, I am always exploring new places and trying new things. Having freedom of expression and not being limited to one style or technique of making art are paramount to my identity as an artist. I love the many different processes of making art and experimenting with new ways of creating art.
My inspiration stems from color, music, literature, and the excitement about the unknown possibilities of taking everyday objects and using them in a way that differs from what the manufacturer intended. I use a combination of found objects, acrylic paints, and aerosol paints to create abstract patterns on wood and canvas. Some of my methods include combining different chemicals and paint on paper or in plastic or wood box frames to distort vivid colors that are mixed or thrown right on the canvas. The result is the distortion of lines and contours, and layers of translucent or opaque paints on the canvas or in random patterns.
