Biography
Uffe Weiland was born Denmark in 1950 and grew up on the Sjaelland island, north of Copenhagen. He became a blacksmith apprentice at the age of 14 in his family's workshop and started taking drawing courses. He discovered contemporary art when he met sculpturer Robert Jacobsen and several other artists.
He traveled in Africa and Europe fo a few years and got to now other cultures. He lived and workd in France and Engmand for a while as producing interior design, scenography and cinema sets.
In 1980 he started taking part in development programs in Africa and Asia (building small businesses and clinics). Uffe Weiland explores various forms of artistic expression: painting, sculpture, multimedia art. In 1988 he moved to Nice, where he lives and works today. He travels regularly for various artistic projects to Denmark and Switzerland (Chandolin).
