Melkum (Melkon) Movses Hovhannisyan was born on November 22, 1949, in Gandzak. In 1954, he and his family relocated to the village of Buzlukh in the Shahumyan district, where he completed his education. In 1965, he moved to Yerevan to pursue his artistic studies, enrolling in the Art College named after P. Terlemezyan. After graduating in 1970, he continued his education at the Art and Theater Institute.
Following his graduation in 1975-1976, Melkon served in the army. In 1982, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR, actively participating in various republican and All-Union exhibitions. His works have been showcased in numerous international exhibitions across Russia, the USA, France, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Beirut, and Aleppo.
Melkon's artistic talent spans multiple genres, including painting, graphics, and tapestry art. His creations reflect a world of mysticism, shrouded in emotion and depth. A significant portion of his work is held in private collections in Armenia and abroad. He has made notable contributions to the art world, having participated in several international and republican symposiums and being awarded many commendations and diplomas.
