Pop Art

Mit der Entwicklung der Street Art-Bewegung von ihren bescheidenen Anfängen in den 1960er Jahren bis zu ihrer Etablierung im öffentlichen Raum, erlangte sie die Kraft, ein Gefühl der Verantwortung zu erzeugen, nämlich, den Betrachter zu vereinen. Street Art mag den Betrachter abstoßen, aber wenn Popkultur das Thema ist, wird sie nachvollziehbar. Popkultur ist wiedererkennbar, vertraut und offensichtlich nicht etwas, das so leicht der Dekonstruktion oder Spaltung zum Opfer fällt, wie etwas, das als "Kunst" präsentiert wird. Vom australischen Künstler Jimmy C in London bis zu Efix in den Straßen von Paris, der ein freiliegendes Rohr in seine Darstellung der Saxophon spielenden Lisa Simpson integriert, wird deutlich, wie direkt die Street Art uns begegnet. Von Sportlern über Musiker bis hin zu Cartoon-Figuren und Comic-Strips - diese Künstler decken alles ab. Ab den späten 1990er Jahren bis heute kann man einen Einblick gewinnen, welche Sporthelden die Künstler verehren (so Jimmy C und sein Wandbild von Usain Bolt), ob Künstler ihren Vorgängern huldigen, indem sie sie neu interpretieren wie Jisbar, welche Marken und Objekte sie faszinierend finden, wie bei Onemizer und natürlich, was sie nostalgisch finden, oder ein Echo aus ihrer Jugend wie bei Nacks.
