Kyle was born in 1992 in Chicago; he lives and works in Chicago.
When he was 19 years old, he discovered Francesca Woodman?s work and Kyle Thompson started to be interested in photography. Impressed by this discovery, he shares it with one of his closest friends. Borrowing his family?s camera, he started to take pictures of old abandoned houses in the areas around Chicago.
Learning the techniques by himself, he created a surreal universe in which he often becomes an actor, in strange and poetic self-portraits. His complex spirit is nourished by everything that surrounds him.
Each of his images is a concept in itself. Most of them are first drawn on paper and Kyle plans every detail of their production. Nothing is left to chance: the light, the scenography, the place; each image is a thoughtful scene emerging from the depths of his prolific imagination.
Full of passion, after only one year of practice, he decided to abandon his studies to devote himself entirely to his art and launched ?The 365 Project" in December 2011; the project is a veritable challenge for him, since he forces himself to take a photo a day and publish it on Flickr. This brought him a lot of attention. His project impresses people, the press becomes interested in his work and his photographs are seen in the entire world, attracting each day new fans fascinated by his work and his singularly surreal style.
