De Keyzer has specialized in cire perdu. This labor-intensive method transforms a sculpture into bronze and produces a durable result that defies weather, wind and time. While bronze became obsolete because of modernism, Dirk de Keyzer sailed against the current as a kind of traditional revolutionary. He consciously chose to give craftsmanship, technique and humor back a place in contemporary art.

Presentation
Born in 1958 in Sleidinge, near Ghent in Eastern Flanders, Dirk de Keyzer studied at the Royal Academy of Eeklo.
He traces his own path in the world of art and came to fame in the field of bronze sculpture, which led him to win the "Galerie et Artistes" prize in the late 80's.
Dirk De Keyzer's work has the peculiarity of recalling brief magical moments where the bodies and faces of his dynamically painted characters, come to life. The fantasy world that he has created is animated by gorgeous women, eccentric looking men, jugglers, ballerinas, knights and travelers, surprised by their daily activities in their extraordinary universe.
Dirk de Keyzer's creation is a portrayal of humor and simplicity. His imaginative characters are unique, extraordinary and wonderfully magical.
