Description
Rattan sanded to find its heart, original weaving of the seat in rabbit, leather and nubuck, sanding 2 cm thick on the mottled water buffalo horns to get to the essence of the horn.

In these mild and beautiful days, rattan flourishes everywhere and invites itself into our interiors, breathing a holiday and seaside air into the strictest of apartments. Rattan seduced me, it came to get me because it is familiar to me, I have known it since my earliest childhood. For the creation of this armchair, I chose to go back to the sources, to the essential, to the very essence of being... Prehistory. The vegetable fiber frame combines solidity and flexibility, robustness and lightness. The skin that adorns and surrounds this clean-lined creation covered and warmed men in the past. It is raw but soft, in harmony with the frame but also contrasts with its original color. The origin... the animal... the two-tone African horn elevates and gives scope. This creature, this creation reminds me of the throne of a victorious leader of a prehistoric tribe.

Biography

Camille Piaton was born in 1980 in Alès in the Gard.
At the age of 31, she embarked on the realization of a fantasy that has always been anchored in her: cabinet making. She does two internships in order to have a first approach to the profession. One allows him to study carpentry and the other to discover, at the Atelier de Guigue, candle painting, cracked paint, faux marble, patina and stain. In 2012, and after an arduous selection, she was accepted into the cabinetmaking training of the Boulle School. In addition to general training (one year full-time), it completes this learning with 4 modules: contemporary finishes, traditional finishes, Computer Aided Design and finally marquetry. In 2013 she obtained her CAP. From 2013 to 2015 Camille Piaton is handmade. She buys furniture, restores them and creates a facing for them. In 2015 she launched her activity. She was quickly noticed by the local press. In 2017, she obtained the first Prize for Crafts from the Rotary Club of Saint Jean-de-Luz. She works for individuals, decorators and interior designers.

Artistic approach

Much of Camille Piaton's work is based on research into existing structures (seats, tables, chests). It is then a question of finding the balance between the spirit of the old piece of furniture and the renewal that it instills in it by restoring and decorating it in order to register it in our contemporaneity.
Camille Piaton's pieces have a strong presence. Each element taken on its own has a very particular temperament: hardware representing a scene from mythology, crocodile leather or antiqued animal horn… It is then a question of seeking the right balance, of knowing how to stop.
We look at the designer pieces as much as we use them. They have a fascinating side, an almost human presence undoubtedly due to the use of objects from fauna and flora. The artist seeks this existence.
She composes her work as one would compose a painting: such and such an accident takes her to another place, such a color induces the use of another material ... It sometimes takes several weeks for her to walk on a work and reach maturity.
Her work is easily identifiable by the leather weaving work that she implements both on furniture and wall cladding. Likewise, she uses stabilized plants in her creations.
