Biography

Born in 1949 in Ain el-Hammam in Algeria, he lives and works between Algiers and Paris. A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Algiers, as well as the School of Fine Arts in Paris, he also taught at the School of Fine Arts in Algiers from 1980 to 1987.

The artist, who has exhibited for more than thirty years, has also been a curator on several occasions. He initiated the exhibitions "Travel of artists" and "Algeria in the heart", with respectively Jean-Louis Pradel and Evelyne Artaud for commissioners.

the exhibition "Majnûn Laylâ" by Malek Salah opened the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Algiers (Mama) in November 2007. Fertile artist and figure of contemporary Algerian art, Malek Salah leaves the field has a clean design and uses all kinds of medium.

Malek Salah is also a process, an inner quest marked by the practice of meditation which, he says, has given him "the opportunity to transcend time" and "proceed as an artist, who is not only Algerian, but as an artist in the world.
