Biography

Alicia Perez Penalba was an Argentinian sculptor born in 1913, and she died in Paris in 1982. Penalba was initially focused on painting and drawing, but during her time in Paris in the 1950s, she shifted to more sculpture work. The artist specialized in vertical, abstract sculptures and became part of a movement based on non-figurative abstract art. She is perhaps best known for her monumental works which can be found all over the world. Penalba's sculptures are often viewed alongside the work of Martin, Hajdu, François Stahly, and Karl-Jean Longuet.
