Eric Moerenhout

Eric Moerenhout was born in Brussels in 1949. In 1964, he began his artistic training in Saint-Luc, then continued it in 1970 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. It was under the instruction of Pierre Sterckx, at these pivotal and emulating beginnings of artistic education, that Moerenhout's plastic fascinations were first revealed.

The painter exhibited at L'Écuyer, at Walt's, at Chale's, at Château Malou, at Hervi's, in New York at France Pratt's. During this period, he made the surprising choice of watercolour. To the young painter, it nevertheless allowed reflection and fluidity.

The Nineties were marked by a period of experimental fauvism, about which little is known as the painter will have burned most of his works...

With his oils on canvas of ten squares by ten, following a rigorous and complex pattern, Éric Moerenhout began to explore a new artistic direction. Bold and tonal, these small format works make quite the impact.
