Biography
Born in 1959, Jean-Yves Sevestre has always been a lover of Beauty.
Particularly passionate about 20th century design, modernist architecture and art brut, he draws his inspiration from his many travels. Like an alchemist, he transmutes his discoveries gleaned from the four corners of the world into works of art, unique pieces that sublimate the wonders of Nature.
In 1999, he founded the Démesure gallery in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue (Vaucluse, France), where he offers some of his finds, rare and little-known objects whose history he likes to share with his clients, who are sensitive, like him, to the beauty of the unique.
Jean-Yves Sevestre is also recognized as a carpet designer, as well as for his exotic wood sculptures, his petrified wood bathtubs, his solid wood tables with a foot carved from a century-old tree, his large majestic armchairs nicknamed "thrones". These various creations arouse the interest of clients sensitive not to ostentatious luxury, but to the originality, rarity and aesthetics of works of art born from the raw treasures offered by Nature.
Jean-Yves Sevestre's bubbling creativity and insatiable quest for the ideal design lead him to regularly collaborate with major international interior designers to create the work that will be the focal point of the space created for their clients.
