Dominique Albertelli

France • 1960

D. Albertelli delves into the enigma of existence, stopping the drama at the edge of her life. Art lives from these sublime wounds. I see something other than the body, she says.

Biography

Dominique Albertelli's painting speaks to us of man, of his solitude, of his heartbreaks, of his quest, also of a possible tranquility. Characters emerging from the canvas; block of emotion, no anecdote. Always the essential.

His palette is tight but always intense, exacerbated. It is a rare painting, tense to the extreme.

Here, presence screams absence. The dynamism of expression. The energy of the line are always at the service of an emotion.

His figures remain anonymous; a sort of emblem of our particular abysses. A secret painting on many levels: we dive into it, we do not come back unscathed…
