Biography
Born in 1958 in Clermont-Ferrand, Daniel Gastaud studied at the School of Fine Arts. He currently lives and works in Paris.
In 1976, he started painting and quickly exhibited his work. Until 1978, he had made 41 group and solo exhibitions.
In 1978, he momentarily stopped painting to dedicate to the promotion of other artists, he opened as well the Gastaud Gallery in Clermont-Ferrand. He organized big exhibitions (Picasso, Pignon, Combas exhibitions etc) and participated in the diffusion of contemporary art in Auvergne. In 1992, he opened a new gallery, this time in Paris. He then turned towards writing, becoming the editor of several books of contemporary art.
In 1993, he started painting and exhibiting again.
His style is a combination of Pop art, conceptualization and other techniques that make his work motley. Only one color generally prevails in his paintings and contrasts with the darker shades of the painting.
