Presentation

Born in Algiers in 1941, Pascale Courbot paints by passion, a passion that guides her life and leads her works from an early age. In 1980, his first solo gallery exhibition took place in Paris. Subsequently, she exhibited in the four corners of Europe and the world and in 2006 received the distinction of Chevalier des Arts & des Lettres. The color is the strength of his painting, and the light that emerges envelops the shapes until they dissolve, without compromising the solidity of the construction. His painting is made of transparencies, glazes and scrubs, where the vibrations of tones move creating effects of light enveloping the contours and giving them life and movement. Pascale Courbot searches through her paintings, the communion of oneself and the Other. For her, artistic creation is a mode of knowledge and a mystical quest for the absolute. "Painting is seeing in order to learn and understand. The canvas serves as a mirror through which discovery is indirect, by refraction, as if misted up by the breath of my expectation. The image that appears to me is superimposed on my face. I like this union, this confusion of reflections at the same time close together and sent back to infinity towards the depths of oneself. A game of mirror between the civilizations of which my being is a memory, but also from one time to another of my own history."
