Biography

Born November 23, 1928 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, of a Serbian father and a French mother. Naturalized, he has lived in France since 1939. After his studies at the Beaux-Arts and Decorative Arts in Paris, he worked for a restorer. There he discovered tempera painting which he adopted as an exclusive technique. Drachkovitch became a full-fledged painter in 1954. From that date, he followed his name by that of Thomas, in tribute to his maternal grandmother, Madame Albert Thomas, widow of a great French politician, creator of the International Bureau of Work in Geneva, to which he owes the realization of his very first exhibitions. A great master of realism, Drachkovitch possesses inimitable finesse and technique. Its autumn landscapes in ocher and red tones offer us the warmth of the sun's rays; its meadows and snow-covered villages are the calm and natural serenity.
