Born in 1964 in Grenoble.

Lives and works in the Var.

Katia Krief's painting plunges us into a deep intimacy where time no longer has currency.

The bodies represented, mainly female, seem frozen in a sort of silent waiting. Dressed in dresses, simple taffeta or elegant kimonos, these fleshly beings, sometimes childish, with ambiguous candor and naivety, sometimes blossoming young women, with Asian influences which in reality are not, exude a nostalgia, happy or melancholy.

We are confronted with very personal writing, a totally unique way of writing the faces of these characters.

The recurrence that we can perceive at first glance of this painting, in reality reveals an extraordinary variation. The finesse of the canvas and the gesture reveal immense variations. She paints and lets herself be surprised by the material. She gracefully lets her instincts do things and takes risks. The artist indulges in great freedom, great magic, in an instinctive continuity. These things that completely escaped her, that she entrusted to her material after digging for inspiration. The construction of a great pictorial approach.
