I don't think you can know me in a few lines.

The truth is, I've always found this kind of section deadly boring, even more so when artists talk about them in the third person, you know “Bidule has always had an immense talent for painting potatoes… . What do you want to know about me, what can I tell you? I am clearly ambivalent.

I like meeting new people, but I also like to hide in my house and paint until 3am. I like the aesthetics of a 17th century painter and I get moved by a Francis Bacon.

I love the infinitely small (insects for example) and the infinitely large (the stars!) As a child I spent a phenomenal time observing Nature. As far as I can remember I have always had a pencil in my hand. Of course I went to an art school (the Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Industries Graphiques Estienne in Paris) but I'm not sure I found what I was looking for.

Although I have always been a good student, I believe I was not completely formatted for the school system. I run too much on instinct. In Paris I loved to touch on multiple techniques, binding, engraving, calligraphy, but the classicism of the course tended to numb my creativity.

This ambivalence is also found in my work which alternates between controlling the line and letting go. I like to let the accident happen, to play with the texture. I like to explore, to ask questions.

If we manage to restore the emotion of a moment in painting, does this moment last forever? After all, emotion is the engine of our lives.

The whole paradox is there for me… Let yourself be carried away but at the same time try to retain even a tiny part, even a grain of sand.
