Roland and Sabrina Michaud
Mythical couple of photographers, travelers and humanists, Roland and Sabrina Michaud traveled at the dawn of the 1960s, and for more than half a century, the wide open spaces of Asia and the East, in search of beauty and a sense of civilizations.
Each expedition brings them to immerse themselves in the culture and the temporal space of the country from where they capture in images the power and serenity: Buzkashi in Turkestan, Afghan with the rose in the bazaar of Tashkurgan, hunter with the eagle in Altai from Mongolia, Kyrgyz to the Afghan Pamirs, the Great Wall of China, Indian Sādhu, caravan to the Taj Mahal ...
Their celebrity is forged thanks to the numerous publications of their photos and stories. The "National Geographic" title Winter Caravan to the Roof of the World on their winter crossing 1970-1971 of the vast icy mountains of the Afghan Pamirs to share the daily grueling of the Kyrgyz in a camel caravan at an altitude of 4000 m.
Roland Michaud passed away on May 26, 2020 at the age of 89.
