Biography

Gianni Di Guida born in Vico Equense, in the province of Naples, in 1965 and lives and works in the same place. He graduated from the Sorrento Art Institute. Gianni Di Guida approaches the figurative representation of truth on the basis and suggestion of the great Neapolitan tradition of the realist school.

In particular, his artistic references are the Casciaro family.Brancaccio, Pratella and Irolli. However Di Guida does not accept to be a simple follower of these great masters of the past - which is no small feat, however, if the quality of the work were, as in the case of our painter, at the level of the masters - but tries his own way , a personalization of his work also in the wake, never hidden and never denied the lesson of the ancient referents: He continues to study nature - inexhaustible dispenser of suggestions, stimuli, suggestions and, also, of constraints that prevent the flattening and homogenization of painting, a disease that characterizes (and mortifies) the contemporary artistic expression - that of figuration - of a large number of "workshop" painters.
