Elisabetta Gut was an italian sculptor and visual poet. After spending her childhood in Zurich, she returned to Italy after the war and attended the Art Institute and the Free School of the Nude in Rome. After an initial pictorial experience, post-cubist and then informal, she turned to experimenting with the relationships between image, writing and natural elements, developing collages and assemblages that are part of a poetic-visual research. Manuscript sheets bound with leaves, musical scores placed inside seeds, books in cages or cages of books, his creations have been presented in important exhibitions: Materializzazione del linguaggio (Venice Biennale, 1978); Arte come scrittura (Rome Quadrennial, 1986); Fotoidea (São Paulo Biennial, 1994); Female artists in Italy between language and image in the 60s and 70s (Biennale Donna di Ferrara, 1998).
