Presentation

Kenji Gomi ceramic works, examine the true nature of ceramic, and reveal the artist interest in the legacy left by the Jōmon potteries and the unearthed relics discovered in Chino, Nagano Prefecture. The unearth relics attracted him as one may feel the essence of the people who created them. His moulding technique even though being no different from the one used at that time, aims to create pieces combining uniqueness and universality.

The unique organic curving shapes of his sculptures standing with a mysterious texture captivate viewers' attention and procure serenity feelings.

Despite his young age, Kenji Gomi is an established contemporary artist with multiple years of ceramic art experiences. His work is also part of the reputed Victoria & Albert Museum's collection in London, making Kenji and ambassador of the Japanese ceramic art community.
