Design Vision
The Brand Xena Kalouti focuses on the borderline between art, culture, and architecture, seeking to produce designs that explore the traces of heritage that are absent from contemporary life. Xena's design process begins with introspective interrogation into questions concerning the malleable manifestations of identify in varying times and places. This intellectual inquiry is guided by traditional uses of materials, drawn from the heritage of a certain locality, alongside the transformative capacity that the materials have for creating atmospheres. Most importantly, the products aim to evoke a visual understanding of how they are made, whilst celebrating and regenerating historical traditional crafts. Here art and artisanship unite, as pride and joy emanate not only from the abstracted visual forms, but from the craftsmanship of their makers.
