Presentation

Mirabelle Dors, (1913-1991) was born in Moldavia. Working without success to the development of Surrealism in Eastern Europe, she moves to Paris in 1952 in order to meet André Breton. In 1954 she disagrees with the Lyrical Abstraction influence on Surrealism and invest herself into a new concept and movement the "Popular Surrealism". With her future husband, Maurice Rapin, she becomes friend with Magritte. For Biro and Passeron in their "General Dictionnary of Surrealism published in 1982 : " She creates a flow of shapes, faces or mostly masks in a nightmare and fairy world". With different styles, Maurice Rapin and Mirabelle Dors invent and paint "images of populations", life scenes where humans mix and circulate with anthropomorphic people."
