Biography
Bouchaïb Maoual is a Franco-Moroccan painter, engraver and sculptor, born in 1959 in Essaouira.
He holds a national postgraduate degree in plastic arts in the Marseille School of fine arts. He currently lives and works in Marseille.
“Maoual’s art balances between engraving, painting and sculpture.
Essentially founded on anachronism and humor, it questions mankind’s crazy race and its distress experienced in the obsession of constant movements.
We can live, through fugitive pictures and a swarming of signs, the joy and the disappointment, the feast and the tragedy of human existence. All of this in a plastic concentration where the Prehistory and the contemporary period are entangled.”
