The Cards by Joanna Danilo.
Words written on the tens of the squared pieces of paper have not always had enough power and sense to find their place in the fairy tales and essays written by Joanna Danilo. Although degraded to the form of small ball of crumbled paper, they were sometimes given the second life. Picked up from the floor, re-read from the smoothed sheet of paper and matched with a new idea, they sometimes regained their importance.
Once, the word-carrier, the white Card was finally noticed. With its pattern of folds, it was unique and unimitable. It bore marks of the creator's anger, impatience and uncertainty. So thus appeared the idea to preserve this all.
The Card was created out of the need to keep the beauty of the transitory nature of paper, to remind the words which are worth of remembering, and finally – out of the admiration for the ideal shape of the square. It is the moment grasped and closed in the metal shape.
The Card loves white, feels well in greys and black but sometimes it needs colour. It is proud of ca 50 or 100 centimeters side of the square and of the amazing lightness almost equal to the weight of paper. Depending on the light operation, it seems to be more or less crumbled. Each Card may deliver its own message, so while looking at it we could remember what is most important to us.
Joanna Danilo – artist. The Card is her next inerior object following metal-engraved screens, solid pictures, columns, vases, bowls, chairs. The only materials are metal and paper.
