Zak Van Biljon is a photographer from South Africa, born in 1981. He grew up in Johannesburg and Cap. He was voted best student at the National Photography school in 2003. A year later, he left the country and moved to Europe. He fell in love with the lights in Rome and London. He continued his photography career on a part time basis in Zurich while focusing on artistic projects.
His work goes from digital to modern photography, but also contemporary advertising analogies. He plays around with light and emphasizes this through sensitivity and lyricism. By intensifying light, he fills up his photos with red turf. The world is seen through a red and pink prism which is real and aesthetically pleasing.
Zak Van Biljon agrees with Philip K. Dick's maxim: "Reality is nothing but a viewpoint".
