Anupa Perera

“I am a Teacher of Art in School, and I also work as a private art tutor. These are my professional roles. However above and beyond the roles I play, I am an Artist by definition. 

Oil is my main medium, and Still Life is what I enjoy most. In my travels as a Teacher, to the outskirts of the country, I am often met with emotional situations, and especially amongst my own students, about whom I tend to paint. Realistic art, is my way of sending a message to the greater society. I delve in “sfumato" technique in my work, as I feel I am able to create more emotion in this realm. 

I pour a lot of time and effort into anything I create. Most often taking more than a month to complete. I use daylight for still life creations and draw people whom I know when I do human forms, for this allow me to be better engaged. I am eternally committed to my art."
