Presentation
Gypsy Dave Mills (1946-2019) was an English sculptor, writer and composer who first came to public attention in the sixties as the travelling companion and road manager of singer-songwriter Donovan, appearing alongside him in the 1966 TV documentary, 'A Boy Called Donovan'. In 1968 he was with the Beatles, Beach Boys, Donovan, Mia Farrow et al in India meditating with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at Rishikesh.
From 1968 to 1971 Mills studied sculpture with personal tuition from renowned British sculptor David Wynne to whom he was introduced by George Harrison while Wynne was working on a commissioned piece of the 'Fab Four'.
In the late 70's Mills began to move away from his music industry roots towards the visual arts. In the years that followed he restored a farm house on the Greek island of Paros where he lived and worked as a sculptor making large "abstract-figurative" works in found marble. His sculptures can be found in private collections across America, Europe and beyond.
