Mick Finch is a painter of English origins born in 1957. After living during 20 years in France, Mick Finch returned to London to live and work.
Mick Finsh obtained a degree in painting from the Ravensbourne College of Art in 1980 and another degree in painting from the Royal College of Art of London in 1985.
An artist, teacher and writer, Mick Finsh developed different activities including the creation of an atelier, writing, the creation and organization of educational projects. His practice in the atelier turned mainly around his painting practice. And after the exposition of his piece called "Closer than You Think" his work concentrates mostly on images and abstraction.The artists does not limit himself to the simple problems attached to painting, and conceives pictorial art in a more general way. He developed a discussion around his creation on his atelier focusing on the modes of representation reduced to their rhetorical and aesthetic structures. Since 2010, he uses techniques of collage and assembling, inspired by the work of Aby Warburg's.
Since 2007 Mick Finch is the director of the "painting images and impressions" section of the famous Central St Martin School of London. He is a member of the research group of painting: A research network founded by the Ministry of French culture. His Pieces are visible in various group and solo exhibitions, in several galleries of Europe.
