Jessica Drenk is an American artist born in 1980 in Montana. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College in 2002, where she was honored Phi Beta Kappa, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona in 2007. Inspired by her interest in archaeology and paleontology, Drenk transforms manufactured objects such as books, PVC pipes, and paper into organic forms reminiscent of natural elements.
His work has been exhibited extensively in the United States, including the solo exhibition "On Edge" in 2023 at Galleri Urbane in Dallas, Texas. His works are included in prestigious collections, including those of the Yale University Art Gallery, Fidelity Investments, and Bank of America. Drenk has received several honors, including the International Sculpture Center's award for outstanding student achievement in contemporary sculpture.
Notable series include "Implements," in which she assembles and sculpts thousands of pencils to create sculptures evoking natural forms, and "Aggregate," in which she uses recycled paper to mimic layered geological formations. In 2020, her exhibition "Transmutations" at Galleri Urbane presented a range of sculptural works exploring new methods and materials, continuing her exploration of the boundary between the artificial and the natural.
Currently, Jessica Drenk lives and works near Rochester, New York, continuing to create works that question materiality and our perception of everyday objects.
