Biography
Lauren Quin is an American contemporary painter born in 1992 in Los Angeles (USA), where she currently lives and works. She is known for her large abstract canvases rooted in the tradition of contemporary gestural painting, blending expressive energy, layering, and dynamic compositions.
Her work falls within the realm of contemporary abstract painting , influenced by abstract expressionism , lyrical painting, and postwar American pictorial experiments. She develops a visual language based on rapid gestures, accumulations of material, transparencies, and intense chromatic contrasts. Her works give the impression of shifting mental landscapes, oscillating between chaos and structure.
Lauren Quin graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she developed a practice centered on contemporary painting and research into the materiality of color.
