Born in 1952 in Nyanga, Zimbabwe. Died in January 2021 in Harare (Zimbabwe).

Lazarus Takawira is the youngest of three sculptor brothers. Sculpting the hard serpentine stone, he lets emerge figures of women with mysterious faces, which sometimes recall the work of Modigliani.

Lazarus' works are in the permanent collections of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, as well as in various public collections, including the Rodin Museum in Paris, the World Bank in New York, the Tervuren Museum in Belgium.
