Bernadette Van Baarsen   New & remarkable Artists

Contemporary abstract expressionist drawing in pastel of a Provençal landscape by Dutch artist Bernadette Van Baarsen. Signed and dated to the bottom right and presented in a black custom-made frame and glazed to both sides. The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity from the artist.

One of a new series of exciting, colourful, innovative and expressive works offering views of the landscape of Provence. Bernadette has taken and amplified the beautiful evening light in this wonderful part of the world and shown its effect on the surrounding countryside. The setting sun throws a deep pink red glow over the distant hill. In the midground stand proudly in burnt sienna a grouping of cypress trees allowing a perfect backdrop for blue green olive trees. A very sensitive and atmospheric scene.

This artwork presents a striking convergence of abstract forms and expressive coloration, evoking a dynamic landscape. Sharp, flame-like structures rise with vigor, rendered in bold, fiery hues, suggesting a sense of movement and energy. Beneath these, a series of intricate, blue-tinted forms introduce an enigmatic contrast, perhaps symbolizing elements of nature or abstract entities. The background is a muted expanse, grounding the composition while highlighting the vibrancy and motion of the central figures. The use of color is deliberate and impactful, creating a vivid interplay between the warm and cool tones. The unconventional perspective and abstract technique break traditional representations, inviting viewers to explore and interpret the scene's essence. This piece captivates through its bold color contrasts and dynamic composition, making it a distinctive and thought-provoking example of contemporary abstract art.
