Description
This intriguing work features an imposing human face at the center, drawn with reinforced black lines. The expressive eyes and enigmatic smile immediately captivate the eye. Intricate patterns adorn the face and the tentacles surrounding it, introducing a mysterious dimension. The creatures, half-animal, half-human, populate the background, adding an almost supernatural depth. The colors red and yellow dominate, infusing the whole with a vibrant and chaotic energy. The phrase "But let go of me" subtly written in the composition invites reflection on freedom and constraint. The artist uses dynamic lines and stylized figures to create a unique universe, oscillating between dream and reality. A bold and provocative work that defies traditional artistic conventions.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
