Description
A graphic composition where the black line asserts itself with rigor on a light background. The gaze, central and fixed, anchors the scene in an immediate presence. The face stretches, almost totemic, while repetitive motifs structure the space.
The top of the head transforms into a large butterfly. Its wings shelter a procession of human silhouettes and vigilant eyes. This superposition creates a dialogue between identity and the unconscious.
The approach is of the raw art. The marker traces sharp lines, without artifice. Every detail, from the small side faces to the textures of the neck, reveals a search for raw authenticity.
The balance between symmetry and organic details gives the image a ritualistic dimension. The background, saturated with intertwined hatching, reinforces the dense aspect of this drawing.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
