Description
This artwork presents a striking depiction of six apples nestled within fabric, capturing the essence of still life with intense realism. The apples, varying in hue from lush green to hints of rosy blush, are portrayed with meticulous attention to texture and shading, reflecting light naturally. The fabric, soft and slightly crumpled, contrasts with the firm, glossy surfaces of the fruit, creating depth and movement. The composition is dynamic yet balanced, guiding the viewer's eye across the canvas with deliberate precision. The life-like detail engages the viewer, drawing attention to the nuanced play of light and shadow. This artwork showcases exceptional skill in rendering detail and texture, evoking a sense of nature's bountiful simplicity.
Presentation
Karina Lara is a Bolivian plastic artist specialized in pastel painting. She received a degree in Fine Arts from the University Major of Saint Andrew in La Paz.
He reveres the Flemish still life painting of the 16th and 17th centuries, a genre that in her words: “served artists of the time to demonstrate their discipline and worth as painters". Hence, she favors still life as her main genre, even though she has received multiple recognitions in other genres.
For her still life compositions, she uses local domestic elements, typical of Bolivian culture, like traditional Bolivian terracotta pottery pieces and textiles; exposing with great skill the detail of the varied textures that these objects offer.
Karina Lara hopes that her works, beyond adding warmth and happiness to the homes that receive them; can also serve as a window to her country and its peoples.
