Artwork ''Hands of Childhood'' captures a warm, soul-soothing moment of childhood — when you simply can't pass by a sunlit field without picking a dandelion that has already turned into a puffball. You reach out your tiny hand, gently touch it, and feel the pure joy of blowing the delicate seeds into the wind, or running with it in your hand as it slowly disperses on its own. In that innocent act, you become part of nature's quiet cycle — helping new dandelions grow while experiencing one of the simplest and happiest feelings of being a child.
This drawing is filled with tenderness and nostalgia. It reminds us of those fleeting yet timeless moments when we felt connected to the world around us in the most genuine way.
It's a piece that would beautifully complement a children's room, or bring a sense of peace and warmth to any space — especially if it resonates with your own childhood memories.
Hands of Childhood belongs to the series “In Hands", which includes artworks of different sizes and formats, all united by one central idea — the hand. Each piece in the series tells its own unique story and conveys a different emotion. Though they are connected by this common element, every artwork remains deeply individual, reflecting distinct moods and meanings.
P.S. Please note that “Hands of Childhood” has a minor paper imperfection caused by an accidental touch. It is visible in the final photo; however, it becomes completely unnoticeable once the artwork is framed under glass.
Presentation
Kateryna Kostyk (b. 2002, Ukraine) is an artist working in the genre of graphite and charcoal drawing. Art has accompanied her since childhood, but her true artistic journey began after the start of the full-scale war, when drawing became a means of emotional expression and inner resilience. In 2025, she decided to devote herself fully to creating original works that reflect her personal vision of the world.
Her artistic philosophy is rooted in simplicity, authenticity, and naturalness. Through her works, Kateryna seeks to portray life beyond the idealized images of social media — life that allows space for calm, connection with nature, and appreciation of the small moments that bring genuine happiness. Her goal is to remind people that harmony and joy are not determined by material wealth but come from within.
Kateryna primarily works with graphite and charcoal, creating black-and-white compositions where the focus is not on color but on emotion, thought, and the soul of the artwork. While she masters different artistic techniques, drawing remains her main form of expression. Her works vary in format — from intimate small pieces to large-scale compositions — depending on the idea behind each artwork.
Her artworks are held in private collections in Ukraine, Slovakia, Italy, and Germany.
