Description

Protocol: Red-Eyed Cat Artwork with Intricate Circuit-Like Lines

Original cat line art invites collectors to bring home "Protocol" (42 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm / 16.54 x 11.69 x 0.04 in), Dina Kot's unique artwork made with liners on paper. Against olive green, black ornamental marks and white symbols form a feline face within an elaborate, circuit-like network. Brick-red eyes break through the pattern with a gaze that feels distinctly alive. The image explores the friction between living individuality and the systems that organize it, from digital records to social expectations and behavioral rules. Its visual density mirrors information overload: every discovered detail makes the structure more absorbing, but not necessarily easier to understand. Neither a simple animal portrait nor a readable diagram, the artwork leaves its central question open: whether the viewer observes the code or is being observed in return. Signed by the artist on the back and presented unframed, it adds an intriguing focal point to modern interiors, especially a home office or reading corner. It is a thoughtful gift for a cat lover or a collector drawn to symbolic, meticulously detailed works on paper.

Presentation

Dina Kot is a contemporary artist. She graduated from Penza State University of Architecture and Construction with a degree in Design in 2014. Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, including Collection at the Savitsky Governor's House Gallery and Images and Images 2.0 at the Literary Museum in Penza. She has also participated in major group exhibitions, including The Art of Labor. Time Forward in Moscow, Cultural Code(t) at Omelchenko Gallery, and the international exhibition Reunion at Nandala Gallery and the Rabindranath Tagore Centre at ICCR in Kolkata, India. Her work is included in the collection of the Savitsky Penza Art Gallery.

Dina works across painting and graphic art, exploring how perception transforms ordinary subjects into something unexpected. Rather than searching for extraordinary themes, she reveals the hidden potential of everyday objects, inviting viewers to see familiar things through a different lens.

Material plays a central role in her practice. In graphic works, she uses precise line and layered symbolism to uncover new meanings, while in painting she builds expressive impasto surfaces that dissolve into abstraction at close range and gradually resolve into recognizable images from a distance. This constant shift between material, image, and perception forms the foundation of her visual language.

Through both mediums, Dina Kot examines the quiet miracle of seeing—how paint, ink, and the act of observation itself can reshape reality and reveal unexpected beauty within the ordinary.
