The painting “Evening has come to the city" by the Ukrainian artist Oksana Sklym captures a quiet yet deeply atmospheric urban moment. The canvas depicts the facades of old residential buildings at dusk, their windows glowing warmly against the cool twilight sky. Each lit window suggests a hidden story, fragments of lives unfolding behind the walls — conversations, solitude, or simple daily rituals. Sklym skillfully contrasts the muted tones of the city architecture with the golden and amber hues of the windows, creating both intimacy and mystery. The crisscrossing wires above emphasize the everyday realism of city life, while the stillness of the scene evokes reflection and observation. Through this work, the artist expresses the poetic beauty of ordinary evenings, when the city seems to pause and every illuminated window becomes a symbol of human presence. It is a meditation on urban solitude and the warmth of life hidden within cold, silent walls.

Oksana Sklym
Born in 1995 in Ukraine, lives and works in Ukraine.
She studied at an art school and also worked in computer graphics. By profession a pharmacist, she turned to painting as a form of emotional expression during the war and has been creating daily since 2022.
Works in the technique of oil painting, partly acrylic and mixed media. She prefers a minimal color palette (often duochrome), focusing on portraits, emotions, nature, and abstract moods. Inspired by Andrew Cadima, Yuriy Kulbashnyk, and Leo Lymanenko.
Participant of group and solo exhibitions in Ukraine. Her works are presented on international art platforms and are held in private collections worldwide.
