The wait, 2022

Ziad Dib Jreige

A fusion of poetry and visual art. This oil painting blends landscape elements with a dreamlike atmosphere. The composition centers on a monolithic structure. It rises from a rocky base like a silent sentinel. Warm terracotta tones clash with a moody, swirling sky. The brushwork is thick and tactile. It creates a rich surface texture that invites contemplation.
The artist bridges the gap between realism and fantasy. Deep greens of the foliage anchor the scene. Muted greys and soft pinks drift through the clouds. There is a rhythmic tension between the solid architecture and the fluid environment. The scene evokes a sense of timelessness. It transforms a physical place into an intellectual space. Every stroke reflects a poetic sensibility. The light feels diffused and ethereal. It suggests a moment of suspended animation. This artwork pushes the viewer toward vivid imagination through a bold use of color and form. The piece concludes with the sharp silhouette of a single tree against a verdant slope.

Wait is a common act, and one of the longest of time-consuming practices. Depicting the personification of Mseilha Fort, as a living warrior, waiting under the turbulent sky for another event, after it has been into countless battles throughout history.-Z.D.J.
