What’s left, 2023

Ziad Dib Jreige

This oil painting captures a moment of profound stillness. A solitary, skeletal tree stands against a vast horizon. Its thin form reaches upward into a pale blue sky. Above, a heavy mass of dark clouds drifts with a tactile intensity. The artist employs a thick, impasto technique to create physical depth. This textured surface adds a raw, emotional quality to the atmosphere.
The landscape is divided by contrasting tones. Deep greens and earthy ochres define the rolling terrain. A single bird glides in the distance, emphasizing the silence of the scene. This composition blends realism with a poetic, surrealist sensibility. The interplay between the light sky and the oppressive clouds evokes a sense of longing and introspection. Every brushstroke guides the viewer toward a state of deep contemplation. The artwork functions as a visual sonnet, merging the discipline of literature with the freedom of painting. It is a study of isolation and the enduring spirit of nature. The piece concludes with a focus on the rugged texture of the earth and the weight of the storm.

After all the abuse we have committed to Nature, it is crucial to save what's left before it's too late.-Z.D.J.
